Physical Penetration Test of a Country Estate

Client:
High-Net-Worth Estate Owner
Sector:
Private Client
Year:
2023
The Challenge:

Cognisant that their publicly known art collection could be targeted, the client wanted to test the resilience of their estate’s physical security measures after local security breaches and recent media coverage of high-profile burglaries. They requested a realistic penetration test to identify vulnerabilities and refine their security protocols.

Our Approach:

Marengo designed a controlled penetration test simulating a small team of determined intruders. Our methods included social engineering, aerial drone reconnaissance, and covert entry, attempting entry at multiple access points—including perimeter fences, staff entrances, and roof doors. The test was conducted without alerting the estate’s staff to ensure an accurate reflection of real-world conditions. We documented each breach attempt, identifying weak points such as insufficient window latches and door locks, blind spots in the CCTV system, and poor staff monitoring and response procedures.

The Outcome:

Our report provided actionable recommendations, including the installation of upgraded perimeter detection, optimised CCTV positioning with radar, and new security procedures for family and staff. The client expressed confidence in the upgraded security measures and retained Marengo for ongoing security services.
