Site Security Reviews for a National Motor Parts Distributor
National Motor Parts Distributor

2024-present
The Challenge:
The client, a leading distributor of motor parts, operated multiple distribution sites across the UK and faced recurring issues with unauthorised access, theft, and weaknesses in perimeter security. Marengo conducted security reviews at key locations and provide strategic recommendations for improving site security without disrupting daily operations.
Our Approach:
Marengo conducted a nationwide review, visiting multiple distribution sites to carry out detailed security assessments. At each location, we evaluated the physical security infrastructure, including fencing, gates, access control systems, and CCTV coverage, as well as operational procedures for managing deliveries, vehicle entry, and contractor access. We also performed after-hours inspections to observe how security was maintained during quieter periods and conducted interviews with site managers to identify procedural gaps.
Our findings highlighted outdated surveillance systems, insufficient lighting in loading and parking areas, and inconsistencies in how visitors and contractors were registered. We developed tailored recommendations for each site, focusing on improving CCTV coverage with modern, high-resolution systems and repositioned cameras, strengthening access control through upgraded vehicle barriers and streamlined gatehouse procedures, and enhancing perimeter security by installing additional lighting and refining patrol schedules.
The Outcome:
Once the client implemented the recommended changes, they reported a significant decrease in unauthorised access attempts and a notable reduction in inventory losses. Employees also expressed increased confidence in the security measures in place, particularly at high-traffic sites where the risk of intrusion had previously been highest.
The success of the initial reviews led to an ongoing partnership with Marengo, as we now conduct regular security audits across the client’s distribution network. Our work has also expanded to advising on security protocols for new sites, ensuring that robust measures are integrated from the earliest stages of development.
